Tess has followed her passion for the built environment to real estate development where she works to foster sustainable, vibrant communities throughout the greater Boston area. Prior to joining The Mandrell Company, Tess was the Assistant Director of the Institute for Sustainable Energy at Boston University. She was instrumental in building the brand new research institute from a two-person start-up to a 27-person, multi-million dollar think-tank in less than two years.
Tess's diverse professional and personal background has allowed her to develop a unique perspective with which she approaches her investment strategies. Tess has a strong international background, including two-years working in community development in rural Cameroon as a Peace Corps Volunteer. Tess has also worked on rural energy access in Haiti, with the United Nations Economic Commission of Europe, and Oxfam America on climate advocacy.
Tess has always enjoyed playing and learning new sports. She is a former member of the USA Women's National Rugby team with tours to Canada, Dubai and New Zealand. Her athletic accolades also include: two-time collegiate All-American, USA Under-19 Player-of-the-Year, and 2014 World Cup USA Reserve Team member.
Tess graduated Magna Cum Laude from Syracuse University with a bachelor's degree in economics and international relations and has a Masters in City Planning from Boston University's Metropolitan College. Tess is a licensed real estate agent in Massachusetts and is a certified LEED Green Associate.
